Bereavement support
You can now refer people across
Somerset for bereavement support
from the Somerset Bereavement
Support Service, commissioned by
Public Health, Somerset County
Council in response to the COIVD-19
pandemic.
• Marie Curie Companions will provide support for people (18+) who have
experienced a bereavement with telephone support calls. Companion volunteers
are trained to handle sensitive conversations around death, dying and
bereavement.
• In addition, Mind in Somerset will provide up to six sessions of specialist
counselling with experienced bereavement support workers for adults and
children aged 12+ who need further support. Mind in Somerset can also work in a
whole family setting if needed. Access to this additional support will be through
the Marie Curie Companions.
• Support for professionals dealing with bereavement in their work setting is also
available. Individuals can ring the telephone line direct or a staff member can
make a referral with the person or families permission.
