Young people aged 12 and over are invited to take part in an exciting free three-day creative experience this April half-term, exploring local stories, objects, and sounds through digital innovation.
Capture Chard is running from Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 April, 10am–3pm at The Hive in Chard. This experience offers participants the chance to help build a unique pop-up museum in a digital space. This hands-on project will celebrate the people, heritage, and atmosphere of Chard through a blend of art, technology, and storytelling.
Led by the experienced team at Somerset Film, the programme is designed to be accessible and engaging for beginners, with no prior experience required. All equipment will be provided.
Across the three days, participants will explore a range of creative activities, including:
- 3D Scanning & Digital Museum Design – Learn how to digitise objects and artefacts using 3D scanning techniques and contribute to a shared virtual exhibition.
- Storytelling & Local History – Record personal stories inspired by Chard and showcase meaningful objects and ideas.
- Art & Photography – Create visual content influenced by Chard and its surrounding landscapes to shape the museum’s look and feel.
- Digital Music & Sound – Produce soundscapes and music using apps and software, adding an immersive audio layer to the exhibition.
This collaborative experience encourages creativity, curiosity, and community connection, offering a unique opportunity for young people to engage with their local environment in a new and imaginative way.
