Cemetery
Chard Town Council took over the sole responsibility for the Cemetery on 1st April 1992 having previously been run jointly with Tatworth and Forton Parish Council. Situated within the Cemetery grounds is the Chapel, built in the 1850s, which can be used for funeral and memorial services. A book of remembrance is kept inside and can form a lasting memorial to a loved one. There is also a memorial garden, opposite the main entrance, where arrangements can be made for a commemorative rose to be planted or a bench to be donated. We can assist with the arrangement of interments which can take place in a grave or ashes plot. A Deed of Grant of Exclusive Right of Burial may be purchased and it is possible for this to take place in advance of an interment. A memorial may be erected, subject to approval, following acceptance of an application form.
The opening hours of the Cemetery grounds are as follows:
- 1st April to 30th September 8.30am – 8.00pm
- 1st October to 31st March 9.00am – 4.30pm
