National Highways have informed us of the following:

The planned overnight closure of the A303 in both directions tonight has been cancelled due to weather.

As such, National Highways will now be utilising the contingency shift tonight (18 December), between 8pm–6am, with the A303 closed in both directions between Devonshire House and Southfields roundabout. This is to complete two schemes in one go:

•           Renewing white lines and replacing road studs

•           Retexturing the existing road surfacing for better skid resistance

Signed diversion routes via Chard will be in place during the closure. Limited local access to the A303 will be possible between Stopgate Cross and Broadway Hill junction.

Although the closure covers a significant stretch, doing both of these schemes in one night avoids two separate closures and helps minimise disruption for local communities.
