Overnight closure of the A303 – 17 December

Chard Town Council have been informed of upcoming essential work on the A303 in your area.

The A303 will be closed in both directions overnight (8pm–6am) between Devonshire House and Southfields roundabout on the 17 December 2025. This is to complete three schemes in one go:

•           Replacing road studs

•           Removing a redundant weather station

•           Resurfacing

Signed diversion routes via Chard will be in place during the closure. Limited local access to the A303 will be possible between Stopgate Cross and Broadway Hill junction.

Although the closure covers a significant stretch, doing all three schemes in one night avoids three separate closures and helps minimise disruption for local communities.
