Chard Town Council has been alerted to the below by Wessex Water.

We’ve been carrying out investigations of the sewers in your area to assess the condition of the network and have identified the need to carry out repairs.

This work will start on Monday 24 November 2025 and continue until Wednesday 17 December 2025.

How will the work affect you?

Most of the repairs will be carried out using ‘no-dig’ techniques, which are quicker and less intrusive than replacing the pipe in a conventional manner.

There may be a smell of resin during the work, likely more noticeable in cellars or low-level rooms. This is not harmful and is generally short lived. If you do experience this, please open any doors and windows to ventilate the area for several hours and run water in any sinks and baths etc. to ensure your traps (waste pipe U-bends) are fully charged (full). There is further information in the enclosed leaflet.

Monday 24 November – Friday 5 December – There will be some carriageway incursion and no waiting cones near to 47 Crib Close to allow for open cut repair and lining. Access may be restricted at times. Please speak to our on-site team with regard to any specific access requirements.

Monday 1 – Tuesday 2 December – There will be some carriageway incursion and no waiting cones in place on Bonds Close. Access may be restricted at times. Please speak to our on-site team with regard to any specific access requirements.

Monday 1 – Monday 8 December – Multi-way traffic lights will be in place at the junction of Thorndon Park Drive and Cribs Close.

Monday 8 – Tuesday 9 December – Multi-way traffic lights will be in place on Thorndun Park Drive and the junctions of Leach Road and the road that serves Bartlett Park Garage.

Monday 8 – Thursday 11 December – Two-way traffic lights will be in place on Thorndun Park Drive, between the junctions of Leach Road (eastern entrance to business park) and Jarman Way.

Monday 8 – Friday 12 December – Two-way traffic lights will be in place on Leach Road, within the business park on Thorndun Park Drive.

Monday 15 – Wednesday 17 December – There will be some carriageway incursion and no waiting cones in place throughout the working area along Jarman Way and Bottrell Close.

There may be some noise disruption while this work is carried out, but every effort will be made to keep this to a minimum and complete the work as quickly as possible.

You can continue to use your water and sewerage services as normal unless we tell you otherwise.
