Unfortunately, Victoria Avenue has had to be closed as WWu need to excavate into the road and parked cars are causing an issue and there is currently not enough width for traffic signals to be used. We have put out a request for these cars to be moved via social media (Facebook).

WWu will do their utmost to get the road reopened by the morning, but potentially under traffic signals.  WWu are trying to currently locate the leak, and this requires careful excavation, and they are hoping to get to a point where they can allow the ground to vent so they can be sure the leak is properly located and repaired. This is being classed as a ‘major emergency’ by WWu in terms of leakage volume and they will be bringing in additional teams if required. It may not be best to cascade that in case it is wrongly interpreted.

The best-case scenario is that traffic signals are in place in the morning as a repair is going to take some time, worst case is the road will need to remain closed, but we have asked for Wales and West to do their utmost to avoid this. If WWu can get to a point where traffic signals can be used these will be synced in with the signals currently on Victoria Avenue. Congestion can be expected with local rat running through Henson Park. We will hopefully have an update in the next few hours, as I have asked WWu to keep the SC Duty Officer informed and we will cascade once we know more
