Please see below from Community Ranger, Edd Chilcott:
“Would you like to join the Engagement Volunteer Team?
You’d be assisting with with school groups, community groups, forest-school groups, and deliver all sorts of public events. We work with young and old, delivering guided walks on the subjects of bats, history, geology, and wildlife in general, alongside a multitude of crafts, such as natural cordage, leaf printing, clay crafts, crown making, fire-lighting, natural dyes… all sorts really! To expand this work, we need your help! We work across Ham Hill, Chard Reservoir, and Yeovil Country Park.
Join us for a taster day on the Friday the 17th October, starting 10:30- 15:30, in which we’ll be coppicing, den building, cooking over a fire, and talking through the main points of working with the kind of groups we work with. In attendance will only be myself and the rest of the Engagement team, I’d say a maximum of 10 of us. Meet at Ham Hill Ranger’s Office.
Please note: If you attend our session and wish to become part of the team, measures will be taken to check your suitability for working with children. References will be asked for and you may need to do a dbs check. All shall be explained upon making contact.
Let me know if you’d like to attend the training day, ”
If you know of anyone that’d like to be part of the team, please forward this to them; we have big plans for event and session delivery at Chard Reservoir and it’d be great to gain more volunteers.
