Somerset Council have informed us of the following with the protentional to cause some disruption:

I am writing to advise you of upcoming works in the Chard area that have the potential to cause some disruption.

From 9th March our contractor Heidelberg will undertake works to resurface the B3162 Crowshute Link. Our reference for these works is NPR001023. The works will take place under a road closure weekday evenings only from 18.30 – 23.30. The road will be reopened at all other times. While closed there will be a signed diversion in place as attached. Prior to the closure, signage will be out on site to advise of the dates/times of works.

The works will be phased to ensure access to businesses is maintained, particularly the supermarket. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. There may be some delays or restrictions to vehicular movements depending on the location of the works at that time.

We are aware that currently the carriageway here is in a poor condition. Please continue to raise any issues via our report a problem page. Where necessary identified defects will have a temporary repair prior to the resurfacing. We will also add signage to advise the travelling public to take additional care on this section of highway.

For information Somerset Highways intend further resurfacing works on the adjacent A358 Tatworth Road. This should be taking place in April 2026 and further information on this will be distributed closer to the time.

Any questions or concerns please contact either your Area Highways Team or HighwayProgramming@somerset.gov.uk. Moving forward you can find out more information on current and planned future streetworks online at One.network. A free service but you may need to register to view further than two weeks in advance.
