Due to health and personal reasons, Town Crier Stuart Cumming will be taking a break from his Town Crier duties.
During this time, former Junior Town Crier Sophie Atyeo has kindly agreed to stand in as Town Crier and is very excited to take on the role. She will be supported by Junior Town Crier Archie Newman, who was officially appointed on 26th July 2026.
The Council is extremely grateful and proud of everything Stuart brings to Chard through his role as Town Crier. His enthusiasm, dedication and contribution to the town’s events and civic life are greatly appreciated, not to mention the many competition cups he has brought home over the years!
We would like to wish Stuart and his family all the very best during this time, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready and able to return.
